Jan 1, 2024
I recall drafting a letter to myself from 2021 to 2022, and what transpired from that wasn't particularly uplifting. So today, instead of casting wishes into the future, I'd rather extend gratitude to the version of me from the waning 2023.
Thank you for everything you accomplished this year. I understand how challenging it was, and I'll always remember that. You had to reorganize priorities, setting aside elements you were used to, things you truly valued, just to muster the strength not to lose your sanity. I admire how each day you ventured out of your comfort zone, striving to be more daring and receptive to possibilities that intimidated you with their uncertainty.
Learning Norwegian demanded a lot of effort. Enduring tedious and often boring classes, going through numerous interviews and meetings pushed you to your limits. Longing for home, family, and friends, trying to adapt to a new way of life in someone else's home, and being around people with completely different lifestyles. All that could have broken you, but you overcame.
Thanks to you, in 2024, I will secure a position in a truly enjoyable workplace. Thanks to you, I hold onto hope for a degree of stability, allowing me to revisit the activities I once cherished and that contributed to my well-being. I assure you, I won't disappoint in the new year. I'll exert every effort within my capacity.
Thank you so much for everything.
Love you.
